Hey, so I haven't been diagnosed with an eating disorder or anything but I don't know how to ask for help. All I can think about on the days that I think about telling my mom that I'm not eating are:
a) what if she thinks its a phase or not a big deal b) what if I hate myself the next day for doing it and can't continue with the schedule I'm working on c) what if I'm forced to quit extra curriculars and drop my honors classes d) what if I gain wait after working so hard to finally get 'underweight' even though I feel like if anything I'm gettig fatter. I don't know what I'm supposed to do or even how I'm supposed to get help. Any advice is welcome. Why I think I have an ed: I skip breakfast and lunch every weekday and purge my dinner that I have to eat with my family. On the weekends I usually skip breakfast and lunch but compulsively snack all througout the day, making me feel like a failure. I also obsessively bodycheck and weigh myself. |

Hello agrin: I see this is your first post here on PC. Welcome to Psych Central.
I don't know as there is a lot I can suggest to you with regard to your concerns. I do know reaching out for the help one needs can be really scary. And there are always lots of unknowns & rationales one can come up with to avoid doing what one needs to do. But at some point one simply has to "rip the band aid off", as I have heard it said, & do what needs to be done. If you feel you simply can't talk to your mom, perhaps consider talking with a student counselor if you're in school, or talking to your family doctor. Could some of your fears actually come to pass? Sure I suppose they could. There's always that chance. But if you're skipping breakfast & lunch as well as purging your dinner, something's not right. And the sooner you address it, it seems to me, the better. So I hope you do. And, in the meantime, I hope you find being here on PC to be of benefit as well.
