Ok, I know I am going seriously off topic here from current trends but curiosity gets me again... For the psychopaths both in and closeted... What are your favorite TV shows? (Do we have to identify ourselves as "closet psychopath", "psychopath" and "visitor" to do an unofficial poll?)
1. NCIS... Gibbs and Ziva are just hot 2. The Mentalist 3. Criminal minds Does my choice in evening viewing make me more or less likely to date a psychopath?Just in case we have wandered too far off the path __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

My son I believe is one, at the moment he resides in a prison cell and is quite happy with things as they stand as he got given alot less time than he deserves. I love him with no strings attached.
He has hurt me and my family greatly, he is now nearly 21 and I too am happy he is inside as we all get a break from him. He takes does not give. Is very clever and an extreamly tidy person. A worker (when he is free to work) however feels the world is his for the taking and I am scared he will one day meet a girl and have a child. As a mother what can I do ? Should I point out to him what he is ? Or let him just live his life and risk the damage he will cause others ? |

Right now I don't think there is much you can do for him. Protect yourself and the rest of your family. Hugs to you |

Having a family member who is a psychopath is a difficult place to be in. As Baltazar said, the most important thing is to protect you and your family. As far as Keeping others safe from him, I am afraid it is beyond your capabilities, if he is an adult as I assume.
I know this is going to sound crazy but be careful about warning people he decides to lure in. Often it backfires. He has made himself (seem) the embodyment of their dreams. To challenge him is to challenge the validity of their dreams. Holding on to a dream will be far more important to them than listening to you... So... When warned many people will actually draw closer to a psychopath defending and protecting them because in essence they are defending their dreams. For the psychopth this is great! you have unintentionally pushed the person they have lured further into their spell. If you continue to push you will break the relationship you have with the person they are luring... This then increases the isolation of the lure and again makes their bond to the psychopath stronger. One of the benefits of being an "out" psychopath is people are much more likely to fall into this trap. The psychopath gets SO much out of it and never had to lift a finger! __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

OK, if Dexter doesn't count than what about Hannibel Lechter from silence of the lambs as well as the books more devoted to just him?
I wanted to do a paper on the theological imact of Lechter as a god image in Seminary... Got trown out not too long after. __________________ There’s been many a crooked path that has landed me here Tired, broken and wearing rags Wild eyed with fear -Blackmoores Night |

Where do I start? ...
The thing that bothers me most about Dexter is that he follows rules very strictly. Given, I have my own rules that I do follow. But to meet an end, I'll break any rule, even my own. Dexter also doesn't have the obsessive drive to attain a goal that all psychopaths portray. Michael C. Hall tries to show it in some episodes, but I don't really see it. And, as much as he'll try to deny it, Dexter does feel guilt, as seen when he mistakenly kills an innocent man. A real psychopath wouldn't give a rat's arse, as long as he didn't get caught. Some of his social interactions were painful to even watch... Not exactly the smooth talker found in the vast majority of psychopaths. Also... He's much too melancholy, especially when he describes his "Dark Passenger". He's melodramatic and "whiney" in some parts. He also names his predatory nature the "Dark Passenger", which is downright peculiar. He doesn't like sex (at least in the first season)... Furthermore, he doesn't like sex because he's afraid his partner is going to see his lack of emotion during sex. I don't know why he can't fake emotion during intercourse in the first place. I also can't understand why he'd care. He claims not to understand flirting. He seemed very conscientious as a child and even a teenager. His sense of humor is... well... sad... Those are but a few complaints... Lecter is Hollywood's dramatized version of a psychopath. I actually liked Lecter, though. |

Thaks Gus, I was always intrigued by Lector morality. Most though I was just nuts for believing he had one.
