I don't want to be but think i am. I cant say i honestly know what empathy is. I've had it described to me, but can't say i can empathise with others. I also don't feel guilt, for some of the emotional abuse I've unfairly subjected others to. I just feel emotionally disconnected from the things I've done, and i hate it. Looking at it now, ive told so many lies, and been so insincere and manipulative . The more time goes on, the faker i feel. I've thought I've cared about some girls, but I've come to realize i only saw them as objects. Guess i had myself fooled. If my mom were to die, i don't think i would care, which isn't right. I sometimes ignore my conscience completely. Also, my conscience doesn't operate on a right or wrong basis, it seems to operate on this could get you in trouble, better not do that.. i was put in a restraint at a hospital where i hurt someones hand, but i dont feel a twinge of guilt. Poor impulse control. My stupid brain seems to think its all about me. I want to be normal. Any advise?

Did you find out if you are schizo-affective? Because maybe that is affecting your thoughts.

Sorry didn't read all your posts.

Wel, schizoaffective was taken off my diagnosis sheet, and replaced with unspecified bipolar disorder. I am starting to have hallucinations so im going to list schizoaffective as a strong possibility.

I thought that if you feel bad about the fact that you might have sociopathic traits, you're probably not completely a sociopath. There's hope for you

I'm pretty sure most sociopaths don't willingly seek help to get rid of their symptoms
Thanks for this!

And mental illness masks Personality disorders. So you need to get that taken care of first.

Ignoring your conscience means you actually have one of course. A real sociopath has no conscience.

Most people aren't saints, everyone does things that aren't exactly stellar behavior. It doesn't make you a sociopath, it just means you have issues. A diagnosis of bipolar/schizoaffective disorder could explain some of your behavior, sometimes when people are manic for example they aren't known for being very sensitive to other people. Just throwing that thought out there.
Thanks for this!

Unless you're trying to gain sympathy, the fact that you feel regrets about your actions because they affect others negatively and you hate the way you are means you're definitely not a sociopath. If you were you'd be narcissistic and not care about what you do to others and see them as deserving of it.

The fact that you're self-loathing and regret your behavior means you're definitely not. You just have behavioral issues, and you might have something else.
