My preteen son has always been a bit off. He has never shown any sign of empathy or remorse, ever. I dont know that I've ever seen him sad, though he is quick to anger. Happiness is quite blunted. I have never seen him excited like other kids. There are other things as well. He has been evaluated by 2 psych doctors, but he behaves like a perfect angel for them.

Maybe its something. Maybe it's nothing. I'm wondering if anyone here could tell me the childhood symptoms they remember. Furthermore, what your parents did right or what you wish they had done to help you reach your full potential.

One of the things I noticed most was my son, from a very young age, 4-5 years old would tell grandiose stories and as he grew older they were all lies. He lied all the time, and sometimes I don't think deliberately, it is who he is. Not many parents take their children to see a psych doctor, so that should say something? And as far as doing something right . . . I am not sure it exists.

Thanks for your input. Mental health issues run on both sides of my family so I am aware when it comes to my kids. Is your son diagnosed? What behaviors got him diagnosed and does anything help?

You can PM me if you would prefer. I am asking genuinely to see if there is any chance I can help him. NOT "fix" him for the record, just help him live the best life he can.
