Do you think the use of medicinal marijuana would help anxiety? I realize that in some states it's not even legal for things it's actually been proven effective for but I was just reading an article about how they think it could help a variety of other things. It was also in my psych book, the difference between Jamaican cultures who allow babies and children to smoke it in church and people who use it at parties, it reacts completely different on people who don't use it as a recreational drug. I was just curious, I had a few pretty wild teen years and I have to say that those few years were probably the only time in my life that I could actually relax. I could go out to eat, I could be around large groups of people, I could go shopping with my friends at the mall, etc. I was just wondering if there have ever been any studies on medicinal marijuana and it's affect on anxiety/depression?

Here's a strange question about medicinal marijuana I think medicinal marijuana could help a lot of people cope with whatever disease they have. We already know it helps cancer patients; I think the possibilities are endless with the right strain.

" I don't wanna be the girl that has to fill the silence.
The quiet scares me 'cause it screams the truth.
Please don't tell me that we had that conversation,
'Cause I won't remember, save your breath 'cause what's the use?

Aahh, the night is calling, and it whispers to me softly,
"Come and play". Aahh, I am falling, and if I let myself go
I'm the only one to blame.

I'm safe, up high, nothing can touch me, but why do I feel
this party's over?
No pain, inside, you're like perfection, but how do I feel
this good sober?"
(From the song "Sober", by Pink)

I think it could in some people. For instance when I used to smoke, I got really nervous, but I know people who still do everyday and they swear it helps their anxiety. Which I think is great because you can't OD on weed but you can on xanaxs (thats what I am currently on for my panic attacks)

When I was young I used to get paranoid but the amazing thing was that I would always forget what I was so anxious about after the first five minutes. I literally can't remember another time in my life when I felt like a "normal" person.
Thanks for this!

Absolutely have no doubt what so ever that it could help most. It is one of the silliest things that we outlaw IMO. Smoking & alcohol are sooo much worse for you.

There is a medication called marinol that uses the essential component that's in marijuana that is perfectly leagal...I don't know if it's prescribed for anxiety though

Marijuana definitely helps my anxiety as long as i don't mix it with paxil.

Different strains have different effects on different ppl just like different psychiatric medications.

It takes the edge off of anxiety, eases the burden of severe depression, and also helps me sleep.
