I read that if you don't get enough sleep that it can cause you to feel anxious. Has anyone experienced this before?

Hi Zen, I read your other post and I'm just wondering if you have been to a Dr. over your anxiety? I have a panic disorder, so I know how you feel. Those feelings are awful. I take an antidepressant. Some people don't want medication, but I'm not one of them. My anxiety was ruining my life. Before the meds I was probably having a attack almost everyday. I don't have them anymore. I feel like myself since I've been on the meds. If you don't want to go to a psychiatrist you could go to a regular medical Dr. and they could tell you if you have anxiety. This is just something to think about. 1 more thing, if I don't get enough sleep it can make me have anxiety. Take Care.

Zen,

I can tell you from 1st hand experience that a lack of sleep is one of my main triggers as it come to my anxiety and panic. I have a lot that goes on every day and in some cases comes into the night (kids). If I dont get a full nights sleep (7-8 hours), I am dealing with my anxiety and panic the whole next day if not more. Sleep is a key component to controling your attacks.

Hi Zen, if I don't get enough sleep for one night I feel crabby and slightly more anxious, if it goes on for 2, 3 or more nights, my personality starts disintegrating and I'm an anxious, panic filled, very angry mess.

Getting enough sleep for me is just as important as eating right and regular, getting some exercise most days, taking my meds (so I can sleep) and having some fun or down time every day. I hope you start sleeping better soon! I wouldn't let go on for too long.

Thanks everyone who contributed to this thread. my anxiety is all over the place and its messing up my sleep. im totally exhausted. the anxiety is getting worse and worse. maybe its the lack of sleep making it worse or at least contributing. maybe i should put what energy i have left into fixing that. thanks for drawing me attention to this.

That's great. I definitely notice my anxiety shoots through the roof if I have had too little sleep.

I think they can link together....when you don't get enough sleep, your mind and body are tired and subject to get all sort of disorders
for me mostly is the other way around....when I'm anxious, I can't get enough sleep!

not getting enough sleep in pretty common in all health problems. it can cause anything from headaches to really bad psychotic symptoms. for somebody who has hallucinations, as i do, its horrifying.

just be careful about ambien--ive been taking it for 6 years and wish i could get off it. i will go days without sleep if i try not to take it since my body is addicted.

You know I have this same problem also, but at least I do take naps. And when I don't sleep I feel so anxious. My anxiety makes me crabby. I just hate that feeling when you don't feel balanced.
