I have been looking and looking... but I did find two email councelors but they dumped me!
The first one thought I was psychic.

The second one thought I was suicidal and was going to call the police. I didn't even say I was!

There has got to be someone out there willing to talk to me....

I'm 17, so any online teen councelors to talk to?

Thanks and hugs for everyone!

Keep trying! There are some that will work on a sliding scale. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone in mind (Truthfully, I have insurance so I have a private clinic I go to.). There are people out there. Have you checked through school yet?

No help with finding a licensed therapist for free except that you can find free therapists for domestic violence. And there are crisis lines you can call to talk for free if you are severely depressed/suicidal.

I am finding this community is as beneficial and therapeutic at times as my sessions with my therapist.

Where i live we have this thing called 'Family Services'. Its a state run clinic through grants. I've been seeing a counsler there for free for a little over two years and just recently had to start paying $5. There grant fell through.

Maybe looking around your town or nearest city you can find something similar. Good Luck!

Given that you are 17 are you in school? Is there anyone there you can talk to and maybe get a referral. There are a lot of teen hotlines - not sure where you live but you can always call the Samaratins (suicide hotline) and they may have some resources for you.

Can you talk to your parents about what is going on? Maybe they can be helpful - I know this is a hard one but they might be supportive. You don't have to tell them everything but just enough so they understand that you are dealing with a lot of internal suffering.

When I was 17 that is what I did. My parents wanted to stay out of it, but I had insurance through them and they told me if I could find someone I could go. The therapist that I worked with for about 6 months was pretty good and b/c of my age treated me as an adult and did not involve my parents.

There might even be a friend who has a parent that you feel comfortable enough talking to.

Let us know...

Some psychoanalytic institutes offer therapy at the institute at a very very low cost; some may be free, I don't know. Search online for a psychoanalytic institute in the largest city near you.

Some communities have mental health clinics that operate on a sliding scale and include free therapy.

You may find help through your community's social services.

You could ask your family doctor for help in finding a therapist.

You could consider a part time job to cover the expense of therapy: you would have a much wider range of choices.

Do you have health insurance? If so, you can contact your insurance company for the name of a mental health provider.

Could a school counsellor or family member help you find a good therapist?

It is so good that you are looking and I hope you can find a good therapist soon so you can feel better.
