I do not know if a bipolar person can develop paranoia but I have it. Sometimes I notice a thread that stands out in some way. I could not put my finger on it until tonight. Just for an example, sometimes I will notice someone in a forum who asks the members in one of the most intimate forums a question that upsets some of the members. The members post all their painful memories anyway. The posters do not seem to realise that this poster is new, does not offer any information about themselves but seemingly asks a question that a genuine poster would never ask their fellow members because the way it is done looks harmless, but is designed to provide the original poster with posts that caused the responders great personal pain in recalling the memories to share with the unsuspected troll. The troll by nature gets off on other peoples worst pain. Sadists. I wrote paranoid on this because someone could come along and say "you do not know that for sure". Or having a troll's buddy turn a thread into a moderator. ?
Thanks for this!

I have been diagnosed as having schizo-affective disorder associated with or connected to serious mania episodes so I imagine that these thoughts may be seen as an unfounded fear, but to be honest, in today's world I could the scenario of what you posted being very possible. I know there are people that use the relative safety of the internet to harass and bully people. I think that the chance of that happening aren't very high but this is an intriguing question none the less.

Good lord, paranoia has always been a major symptom of my bipolar.

I have noticed someone around lately that I have a bad feeling about, well 2 people actually, and I have decided rather than get involved and possibly make myself look even more like an *** I have just put them on ignore. Of course, this doesn't help the people who become lured in by the post, but it keeps me from getting upset and right now that's important for me to do.

I totally relate to what you are say, though.

Thanks because back in the newsgroup days I had to explain to my commanding officer why I sent him an email regarding my worst symtoms of depression. We had no idea what had happened until I logged onto alt.support.depression and were informed of the troll. But I still had to explain to everyone I emailed what had happened.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
