Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd post that I went to the clinic today to get a referral to see a psychiatrist. The wait was 3 hours...but it was worth it.

The doctor I saw said the waiting list to see a psychiatrist is up to 9 months. Which is even longer than my T waiting list (6 months).

BUT, I told him about my panic attacks being a major concern. He asked me when I started having them, and I told him basically as soon as I left the hospital (also the time I stopped medication). So he decided to put me on 50mg on seroquel a day, and said it should help with my panic attacks.

Hoping this helps! (I've been having panic attacks/derealization at school almost daily).

Oh well done for going to the clinic, that's really brave of you! I'm really glad you were listened to and are getting some help.
Waiting lists are so long and it's such a shame... but I hope it comes as quick as possible.
Funnily enough I went to the doctors today and am being referred to a psychiatrist also! (I'm already in therapy but it's not a psych).

I hope your meds help x

That's wonderful to get the referral; though that sounds like a very, very long wait. :|
Hope it helps you, too. Post an update soon.

I am glad you are getting support and I am truly impressed with your ability to accept the wait. You have the right perspective and that is admirable. I am glad your doctor was able to provide some treatment in the mean time.

Well done ohseedee (love the name, btw). For some reason I'm always surprised by the amount of help you can get by just being honest and asking.

ohseedee, You did the right thing by getting yourself on the list. Let us know how you are doing as it may take a few days for the med to kick in.
