Hi

Just a quick question. Does drinking beer (or other alcoholic beverages) give you diarrhea/soft stools or make you feel dehydrated/thirsty the following day -or- make you sweat at night?. Does drinking disrupt your sleep at all?. I have noticed that drinking beer (ie; a 6-pack) during the day gives me the sweats at night and soft stools/dehydration the next day. Not sure if this is normal for someone like me who suffers from anxiety/panic.

Alcohol causes dehydration and yes, the 'softening of stools'. It's pretty normal. The sweating thing I haven't heard of, but I'm sure that can happen to some people. It all sounds fairly normal to me. It's funny cause my friend asked me the other day why she got the...um...poo's the morning after drinking. I looked it up and it had something to do with the dehydration and whatnot.

But yea. Anyway, all normal. I suffer from anxiety too, but I don't think that has anything to do with the bodys reaction to alcohol.

The sweats are most likely withdrawal from the alcohol. I remember it well. The early morning awakening is also caused by alcohol. Im sure you already know this but booze makes anxiety and depression worse. The only panic attacks I have ever suffered were during my drinking days.
