I used to write daily journals. At first I was just writing journals that my SO said he would read (he stopped after a while). I felt they just made me think of the negative things, but I kept writing them because he said I should (and he did say he was going to read them...)
It was suggested by a friend that I should write a journal, but to fill it with only good things to help with my anxiety. A lot of my anxiety comes from thinking of the negative things and emotions sometimes. I was OK with that. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. After a while (a week to be exact... a little pathetic), I couldn't do it anymore. I just crashed and stopped. I felt like there wasn't much good going on, that I was exaggerating the normal things just to feel good and I was lying to myself. I feel completely worthless again. So now I'm back at square one, sleeping too much, mostly bored and having negative thoughts throughtout most of the day with mild attacks... And constantly thinking I need to buy nail polish. Has doing journals helped anyone else? Or any other writing? I can't seem to keep at it.

I do keep journals but not daily. Only when something in particular is worrying me and causing me anxiety. I find it helps if I write the problem all out (in detail) and then what I'm going to do about it. It helps somewhat to get it off my mind because now I've got it all down on paper. These things usually resolve themselves in time, but when the stress is extreme this seems to help.

I have a journal that I write in occasionally. I don't get to it daily, but pretty regularly. I use it to write down what problems my anxiety are giving me, and fun things I've done recently (or plan on doing). And sometimes I write out lists of things that I need to remember if I'm doing something the next day, since goldfish have memory lengths that put my own to shame. XD
I just generally talk to myself, in writing. I'm not sure if it's really helping or not. But sometimes it's nice just to sit down with a pencil and some paper and just write.

Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way helped me a whole lot. It's journal writing, sort of led, sort of "get it all out" and very inspiring and comforting.

I'll look into that book I actually type my journals since I can't write for extended periods of time. But I did get that nail polish!
