I just want my anxiety to go away. I want it to leave and never come back. School starts tomorrow and already I'm feeling restless, shaky, nervous, you name it. I thought this time it would be better but every year it's the same thing. This is the fifth year I've had my anxiety. Can anyone relate? I know I don't deserve to ask for help because I never help you guys, but know that I support each of you even when I don't always say it. I'm going to try to reach out more in the community. I'm probably exaggerating because I re-read this post and it sounds like I am, but it didn't feel that way when I posted it...you know what I mean?

Do you find that once school starts you feel better? Sometimes the "anticipatory anxiety" is worse than the thing we're afraid of. I really hope that's the case for you. I can definitely relate to the anxious feelings you describe and I know it's horrible feeling that way. I hope you're able to distract yourself for the rest of the day and that tomorrow goes well. Good luck to you!
Thanks for this!

Thanks Sundog...my anxiety is worse at the beginning of the school year but it remains throughout the rest of the year as well. I'm taking antianxiety medication and it works as well as it is going to. The rest is up to me to control.

Indie- I'm the exact same way. This is my second year starting school off with anxiety. School started 3 weeks ago and my anxiety has been at overwhelming levels since well even a couple of days before it started. I'm hoping it will go down soon but I highly doubt it will It seems to stay at high levels the rest of the year. Pdoc wont give me an anti anxiety so its all up for me to control. I really wish I could tell you something that would make it better. But all I have for you is that I understand what your going through. I hope thats enough. I hope we can make it through this together.
Thanks for this!

Thanks Kat....but I'm wondering why pdoc won't give you an anti-anxiety? If you fit the criteria for an anxiety disorder and talked with him/her about the right medication to fit your needs it should seem to him that it would do much good

I have been having major anxiety issues over the past 3 weeks, i cant stand it!! My family dr. is supposed to help me chose something to help calm me down, any suggestions? I am temporarily just taking a very low dose of xanax until my appointment. I hope you are feeling better, I have been tryng to control it myself with deep breathing and walking. Sometimes I am so tight and clenched I could break! it;s really annoying!! Good Luck in school, just keep saying you will be ok.... i will be thinking of you! take care

((((((((((((((Indie's ok)))))))))))))))))))

aww Indie, you suport many in your own way hun, and you always deserve to have support and be able to reach out here when you need to, we all support in our own special ways

I get incredibly anxious over the new school year, and during the school year as well, I can relate very well to what you are saying, I have found keeping organized and keeping lists of things and what needs to be done helps my anxiety a lot, also practing grounding techinques does as well. My anxiety comes from feeling overwhelmed, I wonder if yours is founded in that as well?

You know you can pm me anytime, and I hope your feeling better, let us all know how your doing hun.

Peace and serenity

Hello Inidie
couldn't tell from your post if you're a student or teacher. If it's any help at all I've been teaching for a very long time and feel anxious most days some more than others. I was chatting to a colleague and we both agreed that it was hard going trying to keep a lid on the worries even this early in the new school year. I think the advice about lists is really useful. I log my tasks for the day on one side of a page and then record on the other side what I've actually done. That way if II've done nothing on my log I can remind myself how much other stuff I have done instead. Do you have access to someone at school you could talk to like a learning mentor or key worker? That can help too sometimes. Anyway hope your week is going ok so far. I hope posting on here has helped.

Thank you everyone Nicky, I am a student - a sophomore. School went fine, just trying to get used to everything being different. I'm the only person in my grade taking psychology - an upperclassmen course Thanks so much for the support!

Sorry Indie
guess my comments may not have been that helpful then - who wants to know the teachers get scared too!!!! I'm not sure what year sophomore is as I'm in the UK but if you're taking psychology I guess that might be like Sixth Form over here. I'm a SENCO and work with pupils with special educational neds in main stream primary. My biggest fear is failing them and it makes me sick with worry at times - but everytime they manage something new it's worth it!! Hope your week is going ok so far.
