I have to leave in an hour to take my daughter to the nutritionist for her first appt. I have to bring along her 3-day food diary. The ex is going to be there. Getting in enough food on the weekends isn't a problem. On school days is when it's hard. I'm going to have to deal with his superiority BS along with rolled eyes and snorts when he wants to let me know he could do better.
Restless legs

If I mention that all the high-calorie supplements that cost an arm and a leg are the things she doesn't like and ends up wasting, he's going to do the "I knew it was all about money" face. Cripes, $11 for a 6-pack of Ensure that ends up going down the drain and then I have to come up something else she might like? My budget can't take too much of this.

I just want this appointment over with. Why does he have to come along? Ugh!

Could you talk to your daughter's teachers about letting her have snacks periodically throughout the day. Teachers are usually (usually) very willing to help with these sorts of things.

Does it have to be high calorie? I have recently found South Beach Diet replacement bars. They're wonderful. They have 19g of protein, 210 calories, and like 17 vitamins (I think).

Normally, I think those types of bars are nasty, but these are actually very good. They are the consistency of a rice krispy treat. They currently have three flavors cinnamon creme, chocolate peanut butter, and chocolate.

At the grocery story they run about $1.79, however, we got them on sale for 4/$5. I just found them at Wal-Mart for $1.29 a piece. When you consider it is a whole meal replacement bar it really is a reasonable price. These would stick easily in her backpack and she could eat even half a bar in the morning and half in the afternoon.

P.S. Don't let the ex get your goat. You are doing great.

We survived.

I don't understand why he insists on showing up. He sits there and doesn't say a word the majority of the time anyway. He just can't stand to be left out of anything for fear I won't give him a detailed play by play.

I've already talked to the principal, so he's passed info along to her teachers that she can eat in class if she's hungry.

I was right on about the weight gain though. I guessed 3 pounds by our home scale and it was 2.9 by the digital one at the clinic.
