I've had insomnia for the past week or so, which is particularly cruel when you feel like your one comfort is sleep. I was getting really good about sleeping through the night, or only waking up once. THe past few days I've slept very fitfully and then woken up at 6 and not been able to get back to sleep.

I'm scared it will never go away. And of being tired at work. It's a slow job to start with, and it just gets slower if you're exhausted.

I'm scared of taking sleeping pills. I took ambien once and it made me hallucinate, which was the weirdest experience of my life. benadryl kind of works though, but I don't want to get dependent.

I tell myself I can take a nap in my car at lunch if I need to. I've done this several times. But I worry that someone will see me, or it will be too hot or something.

sigh

i'm tired right now but scared of not being able to sleep again.

Anxiety was completely destroying my sleep for months. When I got a new pdoc she gave me Trazadone which has worked. I still wake up sometimes but not nearly as much and I'm often able to fall back to sleep.

I don't recall if you have a psychiatrist that you see regularly but it may be something to look in to.

I know how painful that loss of sleep can be. I'm hoping you get some rest soon.

I had severe chronic insomnia for some 15 years. I'd go several days in a row only sleeping two or three hours a night. It was horrible. I couldn't hold a job and had no friends. I tried all sorts of medications but nothing really helped me sleep and they actually made me feel worse the next day. I was so miserable, I didn't want to go on.

What finally allowed me to sleep was getting on Paroxatine (generic Paxil). Now I probably sleep too much, but at least I can sleep. Other than making you feel tired, there really aren't any other side effects.

Yeah, I'll mention it when I see the pdoc tomorrow.
I took the ambien, like an idiot. After a few exciting minutes of watching my bedspread breathe, I did sleep but I've been sleepy all day also, so that's no help. the point of sleeping is that you're awake in the day.

I guess we'll see how tonight goes.

I don't think you were an idiot for taking the Ambien, it sounds like you were just desperate. And really, who wouldn't be?

I hope your sleep improves. Let us know, k?

pdoc gave me a prescription for ambien, but told me to take half pills. which is something I should have thought of.

do you ever take sleeping pills? I dunno, it seems like taking pills for the side effects of other pills is weird or excessive. I'm too tired to really care though.

I take Trazadone every single night. If I don't take it, I don't sleep more than a couple hours.

There the same tabs i take. I was waking up 3- 4 times a night and would struggle going back to sleep. Now i sleep through the whole night (except for a toilet run) and it is slowly helping with my anxiety too. I hope things pick up for you korborg.

I think it's improving actually. The weekend was a little rough, and I still woke up early today but I guess I just wasn't that tired. I haven't actually taken the sleeping pills again, though I did take an ativan before I went to bed. those don't make me sleepy so much, just calm.

i also went for a long walk with my husband on saturday, which helped. you're right, exercise should help. the pdoc told me that too. i used to go for regular walks but lately haven't been up for it. i'll try again though.
