...suddenly it gets worse! It's like the depression--when it hits, it's awful. I don't always know how to deal with it.

I completely understand where you are coming from! It's like it goes away and you think ahh... finally then it hits again even harder. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this right now. It seems to be easier to deal with when you have some sort of creative outlet...

I have the poetry, but I haven't written anything in quite some time. The blank page becomes quite intimidating. The good feeling from having accomplished something is fleeting.

Oh the blank page... I try and view the blank page more like a giant window of opportunity. And you can do whatever you want with it! You have no limits and it is just waiting for you to poor your soul onto it. It can't judge you! A moving pen knows no writer's block!

I totally can relate. and I agree that being creative does help. Instead of focusing on possible destructive thinking, I can do something constructive by making something pretty.

Well, perhaps you need to write about something other than your feelings. For example take that picture of the cat. What is it saying, what are those eyes saying, give it a voice on that sheet of paper. And it doesn't have to have anything to do with you. Let it take your mind away from you and into other objects or observations. Go outside and look at a tree, what is it doing, be creative, is it reaching?, is it bending? give it some reason, but not your emotional reason, put the emotional reason into the tree. Are there people around you? Is there an old man sitting on a bench? what could he be thinking? Not what your thinking give the thoughts outward to other things. It can be a way of externalizing yourself and relieving that inturnal frustration, it works. Being creative is very healthy, give the thoughts away though.

...i know when it hits again for me it feels even worse. It happened this weekend but when I was finally able to calm down I tried to write to it and realize that it was a part of me, not all of me. After the ativan kicked in I was also able to talk back to it and while it wanted to consume me I just kept keeping in mind that it would pass, just saying it helped.

Also along with being creative I find that I need to get out and do things so I forced myself to go workout. It was overwhelming at first but I just told myself that I would work out for 10 minutes and was able to stay for longer. So taking a walk if you can, anything like that is helpful for me.
