Hi Jen,

Gosh, your question could be answered in a personal way, or it could be the start of some serious philosophy!

In my view, a lot of people get started in a study of philosophy from a personal crisis - life becomes so weird and frightening that they ask the questions that philosophers down the ages have struggled with.

For instance, Plato himself asked your question - "Is life just a dream." By various ingenious arguments he concluded that we are asleep now and we wake up when we die.

I wouldn't recommend reading Plato if your feeling fragile, but it might be some comfort to know that so many people have been down the road before us. World literature is full of existential anxiety. I felt better when I realised that so many bright and intelligent people have been where I am; it kind of made me feel like one of them.

People used to say to me, "You think too much." Well, I'm not the only one. There are quite few of us!

Cheers, M

I feel like that sometimes, too, Jen. Teetering It's confusing and scary. I hope it passes very, very soon. I'm here if you need me.

Love, Jenn

Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. Just feeling overwhelmed thats all. Relatives in from out of town, Christmas. I feel like I can not be me with them here. Meaning, I cant take a nap in the middle of the day if I need too. I cant hang out in my PJ's all day. Although I am glad to see family.

I just sometimes feel like I am in a dream world.

This is such a hard time of year for so many. Look what we do to ourselves! I often wonder why more families don't just get together for outdoor activities during the nice weather, and just stay at home for the holidays. The stress is just getting overwhelming these days. Hang in there!!

That question has sparked much great thinking, as Myzen pointed out. I know how overwhelmed you feel. It's been hellish with my family this year. My wife and I have both been sick for the past week or so and we're just coming out of it--no tree, no decorations, lots of shopping to get done, nothing wrapped, nothing baked, nothing cleaned. Just gonna put my head down and do as much as I can.

Felt a little better today. Was very busy in the morning. Grocery store, vet appointment and we had a family get together at 3 pm. I snuck in a 1.5 hour nap. Much needed. Got home from family get together and Paulie (new pup) was yelping. He got some shots today. His little butt was sore. He is sleeping now. I guess I should be too.
