I never used to think or worry about this until I started having some dreams about teeth falling out...I think I've had about 5 in the past month or so.

These dreams really bother me because a) I feel very powerless when it happens and b) I'm embarrassed about how I would appear without teeth

So now I often worry about losing my teeth, even though I've never had any dental issues in my life. No cavities, always positive dental check-ups (except for some plaque, of course!) So it's not like I've had any negative experiences regarding teeth.

So why am I so worried? I often want to check my teeth, feel them, make sure they're still there. But then I worry that if I poke at them too much, they will get loose and fall out.

Can anyone relate? Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've had dreams of teeth falling out too. I also had a somewhat funny dream where I had this big piece of bubble gum and no matter how much I pulled it was never ending...until one final yank pulled out all my teeth lol. I also dread the thought of ever getting dentures, so I take good care of my teeth. After one of those dreams I feel shaken up until I realize its just a dream.

This is probably related to your diagnosis ((Melissa)). I was using one of those Sensodyne electric brushes and it turns out these can wear away the enamel on teeth. Better to use a good total care toothpaste with a soft toothbrush and be gentle of the gums. Its important to floss everyday too. You're very lucky you've never had a cavity and chances are if you keep up with good dental hygiene you'll have all our teeth into old age.

I've had this dream many times. But then again, I have a progressive gum disease and I worry about that all the time. I hate these dreams, they are very disconcerting.
