Hello Everyone,

I first saw my new doctor on the 20th for anxiety and sleep issues (not being able to fall asleep). After going through the huge list of meds I've been on in the past some successful most unsuccessful she gives me Vistaril for anxiety (not helping) and Paxil for sleep (also not helping). I wasn't supposed to see her again until the 17th of January. After taking the meds for a few days I called to see if there was something else we could try. Of course this was the day they left for vacation and the nice lady that answered the phone told me to just hang in there and made me an appointment for tomorrow. I'm very anxious about this appointment because I've had such a hard time in the past finding something that works for me. I've been having panic attacks daily and hate for my kids to see me this way. I know that Xanax and Klonopin have both worked before and told her this yet she gave me Vistaril. I do understand that many people have problems with benzo's and that may be why she didn't prescribe them. I also understand that the Paxil takes 4-6 weeks to help. But, if my problems are an issue right now why not give me something that will help right now. My hope is that she gives me a new prescription tomorrow for something that will help now. But, I'm just so anxious that she's going to keep putting me through trials. Ugh, I hate bulding relationships with new doctors.

Thanks for listening!

Hopefully your doctor can help you tomorrow. It does take a while for some doctors to be willing to prescribe things like xanax, I understand their point but it is hard to wait when your anxiety is causing you so many problems.

Have you tried any relaxation techniques? There are some breathing exercises that can help some people, I usually use Google to find them.

Please know that this only a suggestion...I am simply another individual that has anxiety disorder.(panic attacks)
It is difficult to build a relationship with a new doc....I have found that the best docs are those that are affiliated with a teaching hospital. For example, I went to a doc and he was so weird about the Klonopin, I urged him to contact my previous doc (in another state) to verify that I did not abuse my medications...he refused. (I even offered to let him use my cell phone so that he did not have to pay for the call) I searched for a new doc.
When I saw the new doc, he asked if anything had worked for me in the past....I told him, yes, Klonopin, he did not hesitate to give me a 2 week supply, and we went from there. I find it insulting that so many docs assume that we are all doc shoppers....

So, if you are near a University that has a medical school I would suggest you contact the psych department there.
