I used to take ativan for anxiety and a friend had told me about how addicting that is and so I stopped taking it all of the time.

The couple of times I have used it, it made my anxiety worse. In a couple of days it goes away though. I just read an article that some people can have that reaction to ativan.

Nothing like an anti-anxiety med causing anxiety. That's not help.

It doesn't hurt to check into your meds and see what reactions they can cause.

Hi
More chances, if you've the autoimmune version of hypothyroid, called Hashimotos, you are able to get that anxiety from the hyper swing of the attack when the cells of your thyroid gland are dying out and depositing in your blood. You could as well get it when you swing out to the hypo end. It is also due to your adrenaline kicking in. And the attack can bring up your cortisol levels, and that can cause the anxiety.

Thyroid is tricky. I can be doing great by numbers and still feel I'm too low. Also, once when they upped my thyroid med (because the numbers weren't right but were after the increase), I started getting very rapid heatbeat and couldn't sleep.

It evened out after a while.

Not sure how long you had issues, but sometimes the longer you are on thyroid med, the "lazier" your own thyroid gets, and it gets easier to keep good levels. At the beginning, the thyroid can sort of "come back to life", and suddenly you have too much of the good for a while.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto in 1993 and also have bipolar. My doc just discovered 3 nodules - I am on Cytomel but still feel soooo tired.

Are you on meds for your anxiety? If not, maybe you should look into it.
