One way to measure the amount of stress in your life is to examine the demanding events which have occurred to you recently (in the past year, or will happen this year).

On the following scale, you can determine your "stress score" by adding up the number of points.

1. Death of close family member 100
2. Death of close friend 73
3. Divorce between parents 65
4. Jail term 63
5. Major personal injury 63
6. Marriage 58
7. Fired from job 50
8. Failed important course 47
9. Change in health of a family member 45
10. Pregnancy 44
11. Sex Problems 44
12. Serious argument with a family member 40
13. Change in financial status 39
14. Change in major/career 39
15. Trouble with parents/children 39
16. New girl or boy friend 38
17. Increased work load at school/job 37
18. Outstanding personal achievement 36
19. First semester in college 35
20. Change in living conditions 31
21. Serious argument with boss/instructor 30
22. Lower grades than expected 29
23. Change in sleeping habits 29
24. Change in social habits 29
25. Change in eating habits 28
26. Chronic ear trouble 26
27. Change in number of family get together's 26
28. Too many missed work days/classes 25
29. Change of job/college 24
30. Dropped more than one class 23
31. Minor traffic violations 20

total=

The higher the score, the higher your present stress level. If you score over 150, then you may need help managing the stress in you life.

What did you all score, I scored 571!!......TO MUCH stress.

Desirae

Interesting test...

I scored 331.

Edit: I just tallied up all of the possible scores, the highest anyone can get is 1212. <--- Ridiculously high, isn't it?

I have always gotten a kick out of this as I always score REALLY high. I didn't do as well as you though with a score of 345. Most of these things, in my opinion are life, and some of what life has to offer is very difficult and hard to come to terms with. Wish I knew that magic answer to have peace and harmony forever.

I think it's interesting that you added "or will happen this year." That's probably not a good way to measure stress or anything?

There are also some neat visual "testers" around. I have them, but will have to work on how to get them to show here.

Stress is... good or bad... it is. This isn't talking about PTSD though, which is another animal, but these stressors don't help it.

This list is obviously geared towards a younger person who is a student.

It's always good to evaluate your stress, and try to counter it with coping skills so it doesn't overwhelm you. How stressed are you test

292 here, although I swear it feels higher. How stressed are you test

Yep, what Sky said. Our bodies don't know the difference between good stress and bad stress - either one produces similar effects. So ironically, too much good stuff going on (getting married, going on honeymoon, buying a new house, getting a new job, etc.) all at once is still stress.
