Hi fellow members I've had depression for many years with anxiety, dissociation, psychosis, agoraphobia, just to name a few and have been on many medications.
My Pdoc recently tried me with seroquel then resperidone along with sertraline and my valporate which I take for epilepsy. The seroquel did not help but the reseridone did however it increased suicidal thoughts so that was stopped. So I'm left taking the good old anti depress sertraline and seeing my T who is fantastic. I know my dx is not the most important thing but I'm not convinced GAD is not it,whilst many of the symptoms and issues do relate to me the mood swings and psychosis seem to be too prominent. Plus the medications I've tried (all SSRI`s ever made) are not effective in my treatment. I know many mental health dxs over lap one another but I just wish they could find something that works for me with a clear dx. Sorry about spellings and rant however I have nobody else to talk to about this at home, any advice would be great Take care JK |

I gave up trying to find one diagnosis. I am bi-polar and I have complex ptsd. Between the 2 there are days I am all over the place. I could easily fit into several forums on here depending on the day I am having.
I take Lamictal. It doesn't care what my diagnosis is. It is a mood stabilizer and it works well. I also take Ativan if I have anxiety real bad. But I don't like how addictive that is and I am going to ask about buspar. That isn't supposed to be addictive. Try to focus more on just feeling better. You deserve to be happy and that is what matters most. ![]()

Many thanks for your response, your right it's more important to be happy, however I just don't want medicating(yet again) for something I don't feel I have
![]() I've a great therapist now who really helps and for once I finally feel understood ![]() To be honest I think the diagnosis I'm keen to know is for my families benefit to allow them to try and understand what I'm going through, and maybe gain understanding to support me,if that makes sense? Thanks again for your reply Take care Jk ![]() |

The dx is for your therapist/doctors and usually has things prioritized by how they want to treat, what is foremost. Meds aren't usually given/don't work well for GAD I don't think (it was my dx) other than maybe an anti-anxiety one perhaps :-)
The only way your family can understand you is for you to talk to them, not give them a diagnosis that may/may not be "correct" on any given day ![]()
