Parents are arguing again... I can't even go to the bathroom because then I'll have to go through the war zone... I'm freaking out a bit, but I'm not running away from it this time. My heart's going crazy. I just wish they would stop yelling. I don't want my baby brother to have to grow up in this like I did...

I'm sorry this is happening and I understand how upsetting this must be for you and your brother. I remember as a kid, my mother had a BF who visited on weekends - my father died when I was 2. Anyways they used to fight and I remember crying in the bathroom and covering my ears....wishing it would stop.
I wonder how surprised your parents would be if, you called the police anonymously or taped their fighting and let them hear themselves. Can you tell them when things settle down, how upset this makes you?? Good for you for not running away - this is their problem but they need to know this makes you and your sibling feel awful. Hugs to you. ![]()

![]() ![]() I know it must be awful for you listening to your parents argue I was brought up like this too and I couldn't wait to leave home, I agree with lynn about recording them and then letting them hear themselves ![]() |

I definitely would like to record them. They know how it upsets me and how it has had an effect on me. I just wish they'd get it together. I definitely might try the recording idea... Thank you so much for the support.

I am sorry to hear you are going through that. Hang in there. I agree with lynn as well about recording them and playing it back for them so they can hear themselves.

Thank you for the suggestions. It's died down here now... And they've agreed to go to marriage counseling, so that nice

I really think the marriage counseling idea might help, if only to help them to learn a better way to discuss their disagreements. I dip hope they follow through. (((()))) any way you can all them to talk in the backyard or basement or somewhere they disrupts you less? I remember my parents used to always argue on the back deck...unfortunately my bedroom was right above the deck and the window was usually open. But maybe even them knowing that they need to relocate the discussion would be enough to calm them down

I've definitely tried to get them to relocate. I really hope they learn to disagree without yelling hurtful words and breaking stuff.
