My son's OCD is completely out of control... we had it under control for a while, but now he it's going bad again. He is only 5 so he has a hard time vocalizing what is upsetting him to make him act like he does, but now he has gone and taken all the screws out of his bed and out of his brother's bed. I don't know what to do about him! I can't be with him 24/7 because I have things (like laundry and dishes) to do, and when I am doing the dishes after dinner is when he is the worst. I also have OCD so I know it's not his fault it's the OCD. But, I can be a little more rational about not acting on my obsessions. How the heck do you rationalize with a 5 year old with OCD! Does anyone else have any advice about how I can help him knock it off??

I can feel for you as my daughter was diagnosed at 7. Have you joined the ocd foundation? There is so much info out there and the best treatment continues to be exposure and response prevention. I wish you luck. If you want to tell me where you are at I can try to find a program in your area that might help. Also, do you know about the PANDAS study? Has your son been ill physically? Please let me know whatever I can do to help. My thoughts are with you.
