Hi everyone, I am 21 year old college student and an only child. My parents are super loving and supportive although they are also cautious and anxious. When I graduated high school, I did not get accepted into the school I wanted and I got into a good program at a community college and I graduated it and now will complete my Bachelor's in May 2013. So I never moved away from home and never got that "experience" that my best friend has who got into the school I wanted to go to. Me and her are both from the same small town and I feel like she's changed and grown so much because of the experience although she has not done so well in college or had much luck with relationships. I on the other hand have not had much change besides holding holding a part-time job for almost two years making min wage- so I am financially dependent on my parents, but I have been excelling at college at the same time and I am also in a good stable 5 year relationship with my boyfriend. I guess I feel like I "missed out" on new experiences (but I have remained stable) and I also worry about being an only child and dependent because I am a student and being too cautious to break away maybe. I really just do not have the means right now and my parents are going to support me until I finish college which I am truly grateful for. I just worry that I have played it too safe so far and I am going to get a shock when I have to go out into the "real" world. The good and bad with being an only child and living at home during college. Does anyone have any advice and encouragement about this.
