I have always been pretty sensitive to sounds especially at night. Tonight is worse than normal. I keep hearing and zoning in on cars, vibrating, or ticking sounds and listening outside thinking that something is out there. But really it is Friday night and there is probably a party going on nearby the vibrating is music and there is increased car traffic. I know this rationally but just the paranoia is there. I live in a small community. I know everyone and feel rather safe here. I guess that quietness that comes with small rural areas can make a mind wander. I have always been afraid of the dark, windows and unknown.

I know what that's like! Not very relaxing when you're jumping at every sound. White noise helps me sometimes; it blends the sounds together so that I don't focus on each one.
