Hi everyone,

I don't really know where to start, so I'll guess I'll just jump in. Starting about three months ago, I started experiencing persistent fears. At first, I tried to ignore them (I live a pretty high stress lifestyle and attributed them to it), but since then, they've gotten worse and worse, to the point where I spent the last 3 days running packet sniffing software because I was scared that my neighbors (who are both in their mid-50's) had managed to crack my wifi encryption and were downloading child porn onto my Wii and laptop.

I realize how paranoid these fears are, but I can't stop them, and they've gotten so bad that they're preventing me from getting things done and messing with my sleep. The only relief I get is when I meet with friends or work out, and I can only do those things so often.

So that brings me to the question: Is this something worth seeing someone for, or do you think that I can just deal with this myself?

Hi thesilvefleece.

Do I need help?

You could take some psychological tests that may guide you to the right forum and then explore the threads at a particular forum this is the link to the quizzes I mention Psychological Tests and Quizzes

If you have any questions, post the question in the appropriate forum. You can also private message a member who you think would best answer your questions. You can usually tell by who gives feedback the way you like from reading the threads in these forums.

The other point is that a primary doctor or therapist should be considered to assess your anxiety so a complete, focused goal can be planned with your feedback.

The PC members can offer their experiences in their lives and their results from that to work on their issues.

Hello, it's nice to meet you
Solid yes here on seeing someone. When something begins to have a big negative effect on your life then it's time to do something about it.

Agree with George. You will spend less time seeing a professioanl than you spend attending to your packet sniffing software.
Thanks for this!
