I've been on 10 mg fluoxetine for almost five weeks now for depression and GAD and panic disorder. The first two weeks where crappy due to side effects (nausea, appetite loss, increased anxiety) but after that I have felt great for the past three weeks. Only complaint is nightmares. For the past three days I've slipped back into paranoid anxiety, depression, lethargy, and general misery. I can't think straight and I once again am having trouble seeing past this dark hole (though I was just out of it and felt really good). My GP upped my dose to 20 mg of fluoxetine which I will start Sunday. Has anybody had this predicament? The low dose just stopped working? Will I have to endure the side effects again? And how do I make these nightmares stop?

For me the more I got up on the dose, the less dreams I was having. At 20mg, 40mg, etc the dreams are really vivid. It's good that it has helped you at 10mg at the start I don't think it would stop after a period during the 20mg. If it does, it would probably last a longer time.

I had a terrible day. Anxiety so bad my skin was burning, xanax didn't help. Depersonlization, and suicidal ideation which has now passed. I have these cycles monthly. I've noticed I do this when I am on my period. I'm going to ask my doctor if its possible I suffer from PMDD. I have heard if you truly have it you have days of psychosis until the end of your cycle. It's worth mentioning since my mental health rapidly deteriorates around the same time as my cycle.

you should probably talk to your doctor about your symptoms. He/she would be the best to answer your questions. as for the side effects, since the med is already in your system if you experience them again, they probably wont be as intense as the first time, if at all.
