I would like to know if anyone has been told that they have a psycosomatic or somatoform disorder.
Specifically, I have Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS). I have also had severe generalized and moderate social anxiety for years. One theory proposes that CVS is a psycosomatic disorder linked to chronic anxiety. Can anyone discuss this with me? I understand the concepty and accept it as a possibility for me. I have just never talked with anyone else who feels that they have a somatiform disorder due to chronic anxiety and would like to compare and contrast notes. Doc

I have thus, but I didn't know there was a name for it.
This syndrome does revolve around my level of anxiety and will produce vomiting. It does seem to be cyclic and is usually accompanied by an intense headache. |

Mine also was monthly, but also when I have high levels of anticipatory anxiety. Even positive, really, especially positive. Anytime I got excited to do something or go somewhere I would have an episode.
Have you ever visited www.cvsaonline.org ? It is a wonderful place filled with answers about this. It is where I found the medication that helped me... I recommend going there and just reading for hours and hours and days and months. I've been reading for years and am still learning....
