I'm going on vacation very soon. My T asks me if I'm excited and I say "no, I'm anxious!"

Do you have anti anxiety medication? That helps me when I'm overthinking nervous and worrying about every little detail.also,tv,books, music anything to distract my thought process.

I am the very same way about trips!
I just got back from one. What helped me (at least with the plane) is pre-visualization. Every day I would take ten minutes, lie down in a comfortable and safe place, and relax my muscles. Then I would imagine every stage of getting on the plane. Taking off, being in the air, landing. I would imagine it as a very positive and relaxing experience. I felt tense the first few times I did this and my mind would even wander into worry--that's normal! The point is to keep practicing until the worry stops. I had the best flight ever from doing this. I didn't "enjoy" it, really, but I was not panicking like I usually do and was even able to look out the window and enjoy the scenery! Hope this helps! |
