so,
a lot of people on the autism spectrum as well as some who have non-asd sensory processing issues use weighted blankets to kind of calm & soothe them. has anyone used them successfully for anxiety? i tried a sort of test on it a while back...i say "sort of" because i just filled some bags with rice and stuffed it in my pillow case, then put it on my back...and it actually did help to relax me...but of course, it ended up sliding off of me because it wasnt a full blanket. im really considering purchasing one...theyre so expensive, though. i know you can make your own, but i cant sew for beans! im gonna search around. anyway...if youve tried weighted blankets for anxiety, what was your experience? |

Hi-
I have a severe anxiety issue, so let me know if it works. My first thought when I saw the title was of the "thundershirts" made for dogs. It is a thing you velcro around your dog's body to help them w/ anxiety from thunderstorms, fireworks, whatever. I read abot them a few years ago, now they are mainstream. It makes sense. Maybe if you look into holistic anxiety treatments there might be something about the blankets. i will look into it as well. Thanks.

I think there could be something to that. I know if i'm in bed and anxious I work really hard trying to get the blanket and tight and all around me as possible, for comfort. So they probably would work. Like Kirby, let me know how that works.
