so I noticed something odd today. I just got a new job at a factory it has its good and bad days.

its a new environment its new people and new rules so yeah my lovely soical anxiety is flying all over pretty much.

I also have found that one of the guys on my shift I have a really, REALLY big crush on. But I am so socially awkward going over to talk to him even about small stuff is horrifying for me.

but I am starting to notice....his actions almost seem like he likes me too. lol which I never would have thought at all.

I think he kind of likes that I am quiet and shy....some how even though the people that go through it think its going through hell and back. Some guys I do notice like a girl that is quiet and shy that has like a sense of mystery to them.

I am sure that at some point I will get up the nerve to talk to him more....and maybe maybe see if it goes anywhere.

gosh knows I would like it to...I would like to find a nice guy to have a nice relationship with at some point.

Being a shy person myself, I can see there are some benefits to it as you mentioned. As I got older, I found benefit in challenging my shyness and getting out of my comfort zone gradually. Best of luck kala83 with your new job and good luck getting to know this fellow worker.

kala83Welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'm happy to hear you would like to get to know someone, try to break the silence by just saying something like how's your day going or something like that, even the weather. You never know!!

lol I actually worked up the nerve to walk over and talk to him today I kind of teased him about how he claimed he was going to come back to check in with me since

they put in a spot that there was not a whole lot of people doing stuff so I was all alone.

and had to learn the new task just today so it was a lil stressful but I think I handled everything well.

but after work at 3 today we just sat and talked for a few minutes. Which I think is a good step toward something.

People might think there's something wrong with me, but I think I am fine. Once I am forced to do things I am not comfortable with, I start to think there is something wrong with me.

I hear all sorts of news telling us that not being social "is bad for you" but I know what could be worse - confiding in someone only to have your dignity stolen by him/her. There are simply too many people that use the good nature of others to their own benefit. Which is why it's better to be alone.

I don't think "not being social" is a bad thing. I just think there is this view that being social is a good thing in that it can enrich our lives usually and give us experiences we normally wouldn't have.
