So I just got prescribed xanax, and my norm dose is .25 mg, I called and asked the pharmacist if I could take 2-3 because I have a big speech to give and I always feel sick, he said yes it's no big deal, so today that's what I did. I took 3. Which means .75 mg of Xanax. Well when I got back from school, I took a 4 hour nap. Now, I'm struggling to remember what exactly I said in my speech. Like. Everything that happened during school is fuzzy. So at 11 am I took the .75 mg of Xanax, then at 11:30 I went to school. Then it started to really kick in. By the time I had to do my speech, which was a 1:45, I noticed I actually didn't panic too much. Or really at all. Or so I think. By the time I got home at 2:30, I was so tired that at 3 I went to bed, I woke up at 8 (3 hours ago), and when I woke up, I tried to remember what happened earlier this day, but I can't. It's all fuzzy, and I don't really even remember what exactly happened during the speech, I remember saying a few things, but overall I don't remember much of it.

Is this normal after taking this drug?

Yes, when you take that much of it and are not used to that much, it can have that effect.

yeah it's normal, I would only take the dose as prescribed and routinely reassess the need to take Xanax as it is addicting.

Drowsiness is a listed side effect. Use care operating machines. It's also a new to you medication, and your body hasn't adjusted quite, just yet.

I want to say, my first couple of doses, did leave me sleepy. I can see, how this fuzzy experience could have occurred. My script states, 1 pill, 3 times a day as needed. If there's anything that I know about medications, as a whole, that 3 times a day is spaced out over a 24 hour time period.

To add: I think my second day, with Xanax, at night I took an Ambien. I woke up, next morning, lights still on, still on top of the covers. Need to be careful with any prescription medication that you take.
