It depends on how unbearable your anxiety is, I'm guessing. So only you can determine that. If you feel like anxiety is taking over your life, preventing you from doing daily tasks, or bothering you too much, I would consider meds.

Well, in answer to your question Suzzie, there are anxiety medications (such as lorazepam) that you can take as and when needed.

And to add to that answer you should consider taking them when your doc thinks you would benefit. And no, I'm not being a smartass. I hope this works out for you. Anything other than basic normal anxiety can be anything from distressing to debilitating. Talk to your doc.

I've found Klonopin works for me but has to be taken regular since it doesn't kick fast like Xanax. It stops my racing thoughts, too.

I take klonopin too. It just takes the edge away. Most people with anxiety have depression as well. If it is debilitating and cannot go on without it interfering in your life, then yes. Talk it over with your G.P. Best wishes to you.
