For the first time ever, I just completely lost it and had a full-blown anxiety attack. It was horrible. I felt like I had no control over my body or emotions and was hyperventilating. It was like my chest was caving in.
I've had many times of extreme anxiety, but never to this extent. I think I'm ok now, I just don't want to ever go through this again. Although I'm sure I'll have to..

They are not fun, and I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.
My T referred me to a DBT T (in addition to therapy with T) and I've found the mindfulness tools invaluable for helping me cope with anxiety and the attacks. It's better than the xanax I was starting to abuse, because the attacks were coming so frequently.

For me it started as anxiety over certain things. Then it became more often. At this point it seems that I will have anxiety issues the rest of my life. I have over time developed my own ways of coping. But it is not pleasant to be this way.
Most days I am awakened by a panic attack. What a way to start the day. |

My attacks usually have some type of stress trigger. Are you doing a combo talk therapy and meds? Meds aren't always the ultimate solution, hence, learning anxiety coping skills. There's many out there. Trying to bring yourself, to a point, that the anxiety is nearly predictable, is something that can help. I can usually tell, when I'll get one. Can't always control, the physical manifestations, but awareness as to why, helps.
Wanted to add, lack of sleep, adds to my having them. |

are you aware of what triggers your anxiety?
if yes then you can avoid the situation next time 'round... im aware that certain situations may no be avoidable, but at least you could somehow find a way out - please take care of your life; it matters. ![]()
