My fiance is driving 400 miles one way this coming thursday, back home on friday. He is going to pick up a friend of ours who is being released from prison (complicated story). Anyways, I cannot go with him as I have to work due to no paid time off. I'm freaking out because I am afraid something bad will happen to my fiance (car breaking down, accident etc.). It is three days away and I'm making myself so anxious over it I'm getting a stomach ache. I am also afraid of being home alone even for one night. The smallest sounds make me feel like someone is breaking in to our apartment. Long story short, I am a crazy person.
Anyone out there ever get anxious over stuff like this? :/ Ugh!

hi. I'm a crazy person too.
I don't have any issues with being home alone but I have HUGE issues with constant worry about something terrible happening to my loved ones. I also have a way too overactive imagination and can work myself up in 5 seconds flat if I allow it. Distractions help a lot. and exhausting myself physically helps a lot. Writing down exactly what I'm worrying about help too. For some reason seeing it in black and white helps me see how silly some of my worries actually are.

Would planning a special 'you-time' night while your fiance is gone maybe help with the anxiety? a spa night? or an eat ice cream straight out of the carton night? or any whatever-your-favorite-hobby is night?

Good idea, I give myself too much time to just sit and think and then my imagination comes into play (fear something may happen to my loved ones while they are away), makes me feel better there are others that get this way too, and you came up with some good ideas. Thanks!

Just had a similar incident. My wife's sister's husband (I refuse to call him my brother-in-law) recently got arrested for possession of meth. The day he got out I made myself sick thinking he would come and do something to out daughter (he wasn't on the best of terms with everyone before this happened). Luckily it turned out to be a pretty uneventful day.
