I have hypochondriasis. I am currently worrying about having ALS, despite reassurance from my GP and neurologist. I am awaiting an EMG next Thursday to hopefully close the door on my ALS fear. This is the second time I began worrying about ALS. My first episode occurred about two years ago. I am currently taking Lexapro, and last time my hypochondriasis acted up I was on Paxil.

Is there anyone with my same condition here?

Hello there

I have been in this situation myself, in fact I spent most of my teenage years feeling that way

I managed to convince myself I had Breast Cancer, Bowel Cancer, AIDS, Alopecia, Multiple Sclerosis and a lot of other things I can't remember any more but seemed hugely real at the time.

I had a lot of help but still spent many hours in my doctors surgery begging him to refer me to the hospital

I eventually had CBT and was temperarily treated with Valium which helped but its amazing what your brain can convince you of, even when you know on one level that theres nothing wrong with you!

I hope things work out okay and everyone here is very supportive and there is always someone who has been in the same situatio who you can talk to

Good Luck!

I can relate to how you feel. I hope it is just nerves, but now I think I am getting Parkison's Diesese. It is still scary all the same.
