I have anxiety every day. Some days it is worse but I always worry about something. Right now it is because I just started a new job. I realize New jobs are hard and I keep saying be patient with yourself but even if I am feeling good about the training the worry of not being good enough and failure creep up. I think I am going to make too many mistakes, look stupid and get fired. Why can't I just relax?

Being gentle with yourself, is a first step. It's really difficult, to let go of the fear of failure and not being good enough. Have you been corrected for any mistakes? And if you have been, were they just due to learning new things? Remember, they hired you, sensing you'd be a good fit for their company. No one expects perfection, all the time.

I'm still in training and haven't been talked to about anything. The worst part is that I am so nervous I haven't been able to concentrate to learn the material like I feel like I should be. That in turn makes my nerves worse and the feeling of failure greater. I can see the good in others and clearly see their potential. Offer words of encouragement and have confidence in them. I can't do the same for myself. It's so frustrating.

Someone put a link to this on Psych Central recently and I thought it was very helpful. This speaker has other content on self-compassion on her web site and on Youtube. I found it helpful.
