So, I go to the dentist this Friday and now I'm feeling a bit anxious.

I honestly feel like he's going to say there's something else wrong with my teeth, despite me taking good care of my teeth and not having any other known problems with my teeth. Plus, I'm also afraid he's going to say my tooth's dead, although it's still sensitive. I had a deep filling that may require a root canal, which I'm not afraid of, because multiple people I know have had them.

I'm terrified. Please, no one tell me anything bad... Like said, TERRIFIED. The dentist I'm going to is really nice, so that's not an issue with me.

Okay. I know the terror of going to even a kind dentist. It took a long time of gentle care by that dentist to calm me down enough to not be terrified by anything. Please, just make your dentist aware of your fears and discomfort. Most will understand! Good luck!

Dentists freak me out too. When I was a kid my parents sent me to a dentist for problem children because I would freak out so bad. He just slapped me until I cooperated. Which I guess was only once, but it didn't a exactly fix my fears of the dentist.

My current dentist says he has a lot of patients that are terrified of the dentist and is very in tune to my non berbals. That and it was discovered my nerve endings aren't where they are on a typical patient so I was never getting the full effect of novacaine. The dentist isn't supposed to hurt, who new?

I also dread the damage list. I take good care of my teeth, aside from eating a lot of sugar, and there's always something. My teeth have weak enamel and my parents never ponied up the cash for sealants.

I get myself through it by reminding myself I've been through worse I've given birth three times, a visit to the dentist is child's play. It helps some.

I hear you - I'm normally pretty brave when it comes to medical stuff but the dentist gets me, too. I had an anxiety attack recently at the dentist office while being worked on and I flat out told them what was happening and that I needed to get up and walk around. Know what the dentist told me?? She gets panicky when HER teeth are being worked on, too! Somehow, that made me feel better.

The thing is, for me, I've had no problems with my teeth (excluding one deep cavity). I had my wisdom teeth removed a year ago, but they weren't even emerged and I was terrified when they would emerge.

My fears are irrational, I know. I really don't want my tooth extracted and he said I'd just need a root canal, if anything, because a tooth doesn't die within the span of a month (please don't say otherwise). My parents agreed that going back for my routine exams again would be good, so nothing like this happens again.

My fear of the dentist has taken a toll on my teeth. I ended up having major work done, because I was too fearful to go over the years.
If you've been going to the dentist on a regular basis, your teeth should be fine.

I haven't been to the dentist for a regular cleaning for a few years due to financial issues, but I've had no other issues with my teeth, other than the filling tooth I mentioned, and I had my wisdom teeth removed because they were going to impact my back teeth, although they didn't even emerge yet.
