Hello,

I am new here but not new to GAD/Panic etc. . I have had it for about 17 years and have just started seeing a psychotherapist for treatment. I have a quick question about de-realization, which is mild in my case: I "noticed" it for the first time around the same time I began feeling anxious on a daily basis. I still have this mild de-realization on, I believe, a daily basis and am wondering if this is normal. I have had a few flashes throughout the past 17 years of fully coming out of it, such as being in a movie theater and feeling completely "inside" of the world, or at a concert. The best way i can explain the sensation, in my case, is that I am listening to a really good song, enjoying it, yet it feels like it is not loud enough, slightly distant perhaps. I am able to experience life in a good fashion, but am always aware of this unreal feeling, however slight. My senses are all great and I guess the feeling is of one of feeling emotionally detached to objects, people etc, like i am able to function fine, hold deep conversations etc but there's always this slight "nag" that it used to feel more alive and "here". Any input would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Jeff

I've had derealization for decades. It makes me sad that my life has to be like this, but I've never found anything to help the der. except support from others who have it.

Google derealization forum and you'll find a forum all about it.
