I have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety and depression but recently I've been getting worse and worse and I can't tell whether what I call my 'breakdowns' are actually panic attacks. Whenever I have a breakdown, I tense up completely to the point where I feel like I physically can't move and can't speak even if I want to, I heat up and sweat, my breathing becomes irregular and staggered, I fidget with my fingers and tap my foot constantly, I sometimes cry and I avoid all eye contact and look at the floor.

I can't tell whether these 'breakdowns' I have are panic attacks or not but I've been getting them more and more often and they're starting to really worry me. Does anyone have experience with this and can you tell me if they are really panic attacks or not??

That's what it sounds like to me. My ex husband is my biggest trigger for panic attacks. I get light headed, have trouble breathing, my throat feels as if it's closing off, my chest gets tight, & I get nervous energy.
