Hi all I have many mental health problems however I need advice on medication for anxiety before I vist the doc in two days.
Firstly I am disabled and anxiety exacerbates the physical symptoms ten fold so after speaking with my nurse etc I've been told that meds such as diazapam are impossible to get prescribed nowadays in the UK due to addiction otherwise they would of been a med to help me at this present time,as it is not to be taken forever and only when needed.
The problem I need help with here is what other meds are out there with the same effect as the 'pam' group?
Any advice or experiences with beneficial anxiety medication to share with me?
I must add that I dislike meds usually as I take high dosage pain relief for disabilities, ive tried all manners of CBT, anxiety management etc, however I'm having a real tuff time and my therapy (mindfulness) is taking a while to grasp.
PLEASE help me out fellow members before my appointment I would be most grateful
Take care
J

I take buspar for my anxiety. it is not addictive and I find it works well to take the edge off. it doesn't take care of it completely but it did take it down by about half. before it my anxiety was so bad I was having hallucinations while driving and such. it has taken care of that. now my anxiety is manageable. I still have klonopin for when things get out of hand but I rarely ever take it. I manage well on the buspar.
