Hi.
I'm new to this group. I have Generalization anxiety. I was drinking a lot of soda and it's made me jumpy. I do take clonazepam when I need it. I had cut back on drinking soda. I only drink 2-3 can a day instead of 6-10 cans. A noise I can make me jumpy. Does anyone feel the same way. I maybe should take clonazepam every few days. loveyouhun |

if you happen to have PTSD, you can be jumpy from that. Cutting back on soda is good though, but maybe you need to let your body get used to less, sometimes it takes a while especially if it is both high in caffeine and sugars.

If the soda has caffeine, then yeah it can certainly contribute to anxiety. I have generalized anxiety and PTSD and sometimes I can handle caffeine but sometimes it just feeds my anxiety symptoms.
You could try getting non-caffeinated soda like sprite or there's some good kinds with like natural ingredients I've had...also though a lot of sugar can kind of stimulate things but I don't think sugar alone in soda would specifically contribute to anxiety more likely the caffeine.

Caffeine in soda makes my anxiety miles worse. And because of that I have IBS too!! It's a vicious cycle! I stay well away from the stuff anyway. It's no good for your health either way.

Cut the soda down to zero cans a day, especially if it has Caffeine as that is well know to enhance anxiety. I'm not saying that will "cure" you, but it will help. Soda in general is junk anyway and bad for you body. I try to drink it on rare occasions.
Just an opinion. Good luck to you. |

Caffeine tends to make people jumpy. And remember medication does not treat the underlying cause of your GAD it only treats the symptoms. I think removing soda to maybe 1-2 a week instead of per day it seems to exacerbate your symptoms and that can't be fun for you. Also, it couldn't hurt to go and see a therapist specializing in GAD
