Hi all- for the past several weeks, upon waking up in the morning, I experience extreme panic that causes me to jump out of bed and run out of my room, with a racing heart, sweating, feeling dizzy, and other anxiety-like symptoms. I often wake up gasping as if I'd been holding my breath. This happens regardless if I'm waking up from an alarm or if I'm waking up on my own. I also experience nightmares every night, but that has been going on for about a year, so I'm not sure if that would be related? I read that this "morning anxiety" (?) could be due to low blood sugar or high cortisol levels... any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I don't know anything about the possible physical reasons but I often have bad anxiety when I wake up too. In my case I think it could be just that I'm so unhappy in my current circumstances. Good luck.
