Hey all, I'm new to the forums. I have really bad anxiety attacks. When I do I really do not feel like eating. I take in about 800 - 1200 calories a day and I'm not losing weight. I'm 5" 2' and around 110 pounds. However I'm worried I'm not getting enough. I feel weak and out of it lately. I do take vitamins and magnesium however. Could the weakness be psychosomatic due to my anxiety?
My parents believe it's all in my head but I just don't know. Thanks.

hi haleys
you should probably be getting closer to the 1200 than the 800 but if you are not losing weight I don't think it is a concern. feeling weak and out of it can certainly be a symptom of anxiety. it can do all sorts of things to you physically. it is not really in your head as your parents said. your anxiety stems from a part of your brain which is connected to your nervous system. so it is your nervous system making you weak and out of it...lol...welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome

Everything sounds okay with what you are eating and your vitamins to me but then, I'm not a doctor I would go to the doctor and get blood/urine tests and see if he finds anything unusual going on. I know I have been prescribed Vitamin D by mine and he said my B12 was low, etc. Thyroid problems can make you feel that way I think and lack of sleep (or too much stress/not enough exercise, etc.).
