It is one on one or in a group. It really does not pay any attention to the past but only what is going on in the present. Kind of like mindfulness in a way. You practice becoming very aware of what you are thinking. What may be causing you to think this or that. Thinking leads to feeling which leads to behavior. If you can intervene in the thinking part you can change how you feel and how you behave. Usually it is challenging ways of thinking which may be ingrained but may be faulty. It has proven to be very effective. I really like it. Have they suggested meds too?
NAMI | Cognitive Behavioral Therapy In-Depth: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy | Psych Central For example today I had to do a job. Its like a day and a half job. The previous four days I have been having all kinds of anxiety over it. A lot of false fears really. Have been kind of depressed and then my confidence goes and then the anxiety comes. Fears over nothing really. I have done this stuff a million times and know what I am doing but I really had to keep telling myself that to keep things in check. And of course things went perfectly smoothly today. The worrying and anxiety was from faulty thinking.
