So I've had two memory lapses so far one week after another and it is kind of alarming. Two incidents happened that should've been enough to trigger panic attacks, however right after the incident occurred, I forgot what happened. It feels like a really far off memory from a year ago and from the top of my head, I can only remember the general idea of what happened but no details whatsoever even though it just happened a few minutes ago. I feel like I could remember everything, but I don't try in fear of getting another panic attack.

An example would be that I get really anxious when someone seems to be disappointed on me and I get fixated on their words, gestures and expressions for several more hours, days, weeks, after the event. However the past two times, I could not recall anything that I usually ruminate on. In one case, I don't even remember what the guy looks like anymore.

I've had other memory lapses before but I assumed that was due to poor memory since the events of the day weren't that triggering. Since I'm usually spacing out, I didn't find it odd that I forgot everything that happened during the day, but..... Are memory lapses causes for concern?

I'm not sure if this would the right forum to post this in but I am not aware of what I else I might have or what this might be a symptom of...

Thank you for reading to this point and I greatly appreciate any comments!

sounds to me like you are dissociating.....anxiety gets so bad that you are just "leaving" so you don't have to experience it. that is why you don't remember it. it is somewhat of a concern as it isn't a positive coping skill. if you don't have a therapist, now would be the time to get one. take care.
