For months I would have a panic attack whenever I would drive. After finding a new pdoc, things progressed and I was able to drive again.

Two weeks ago I was driving down the road and a woman ran through a stop sign and crashed into me. A T-bone accident. I survived with minor injuries.

The most frustrating part is my driving anxiety is back. I'm so angry, I don't know what to do. I had made so much progress. I was able to be independent again. And now this!

I was wondering if any of you had experienced anything like this. Or basically, if you've been in a fairly serious car accident, how long did it take before you could drive again without feeling anxious or having panic attacks?

I don't drive so I don't have any advice but I'm glad you're somewhat okay physically and I hope someone can help you with the anxiety over this event

I'm just learning how to drive a car and I freak out at times. I can understand how you feel the fear keeps holding you back. I would advise you to drive early in the morning when the roads are usually empty just drive for atleast 10 minutes and then return back home it will help you gain confidence again

I'm so sorry for your set back. It can be frustrating when you're making progress on something, and that gets thrown out the window. I know it's hard, but try not to judge yourself. You were just in a car accident. Of course you're not going to want to drive.
Is there someone that can drive you to an empty parking lot so you can drive with no cars around?
Thanks for this!

I have real bad driving anxiety. I have been a few accidents. What I did was take someone with me until I felt comfortable again. Once I even took a few lesson from an instructor to brush up on some skills. I still get scared on the highway. I haven't driven on it in months because I was shaking so bad. The meds I am on help a little I have a lot more concentration. I haven't had a ticket or an accident in almost 3 years. I don't have a lot of experience driving. I've only had a license for about 9 years. I don't drive that much. It took a lot of therapy to get behind the wheel. I was so scared when I first started out. I still have anxiety. I just started seeing a new therapist and plan on discussing it because my fiancé want me to drive to NJ and I'm scared.
I hope you will be okay behind the wheel soon.
