Could you explain the differences? In my idea stress is when you feel overwhelmed by all the things that you have to do, but when I have a similar period I also feel anxious. For me the two feelings can be very similar. Is it just for me, or in general the two things are similar?

Stress is "now" focused ... i.e. pressure from work, family, school, etc. responsibilities.
Anxiety is "future" focused ... i.e. what will happen if ____ (fill in the blank). |

For me, stress is not always a bad thing--it can motivate me to be really productive and get things done. I'm not saying it's necessarily a lot of fun, but it pushes me toward productivity.
Anxiety, on the other hand, shuts me down. I can't function. I can't do things, or I can do them only with great difficulty. Then I start to fall behind, which makes me even more anxious. Stress can trigger anxiety, but not all stress leads to anxiety. |
