I am reposting this I just posted it in the Health Section...

I got an ultrasound a couple weeks ago because my doctor found an ovarian cyst. She tried to call me with the results last week but I was at work. Someone called today so that I would make a phone appointment with my doctor to discuss the results. It's not for a week.

In the meantime I've googled ovarian cancer and I'm freaking myself out, people often confuse IBS symptoms with ovarian cancer symptoms, and people of Eastern European Jewish descent have a greater chance of developing ovarian cancer. I fall into both these categories!

It is hard to relax while awaiting this phone call.

That would be hard. Waiting a week. I hope it is only a cyst. I am not sure but I think they are pretty common and benign. I would be anxious too.

It could just be an ovarian cyst. Cysts are actually kind of common and they can form anywhere on the body. So try to ease your mind about this, since worrying about it won't change anything except make you miserable. I have fibrocystic breasts and when they took an ultrasound of my breast tissue they said there are "knot like hard spots" in my breast and I freaked myself out about having breast cancer, but that was years ago and I'm still here.

I really really think if they were calling to tell you it is cancer or anything serious, they would not make you wait a week and it probably wouldn't even be just a phone appointment. If it was serious at all they would tell you to come in, in person, right away. I would say don't worry, but I know that's literally impossible for us who suffer.

Also use this as a learning lesson to realize that all the little things we worry about aren't serious at all when something that scares us really bad (like this) comes up. But please don't sit around thinking it's cancer. Again, they wouldn't make you wait a week for that kind of news.

That is great news! A benign cyst isn't fun, had one removed from my back, but the surgery really isn't that big of deal. It was my first surgery, so I was a nervous wreck, but made it through (obviously)
