K so I first got new Dr recently I just saw him recently he's a new doctor and he prescribed me a klonpin for anxiety and after that. I told him I'd rather try xanax instead.. Then I thought I lost the Xanax or somebody might have stolen them but I found them a home. and I called the office and they said they have a lot of people that come in and say that.. I waited a couple of days and I had another appointment set up. I came in and asked him if he could refill it since I lost it and nd he said the pharmacy can't do that until you know the next two weeks. Thought about it and I just said f*** it let me just tries and actually try ativan and stead any prescribed me add event that I got on ativan that same day and I did nothing for me at all. I called the office back the next day and told them they did nothing for me and I wanted another prescription of either klonopin or xanax and the doctor you know just said to wait until I have another appointment but my pre filled day with the xanax is coming up soon. When I called him that day and I asked him to refilm a klonopin or xanax when I called back that same day I asked him to just refill me klonopin or xanax and he said just wait two weeks and we'll talk about the Klonopin. But my panic attacks have been so severe and my OCD is so bad I cannot even function at all red light right now so I'm thinking I should just call them tomorrow and ask them to refill my prescription of xanax is coming up my refill prescription for the prescription of my refill should be coming soon here on the 24th on Thursday or Friday this Thursday or Friday. Do you think he might get suspicious and think of selling them or used over and over using or abusing them or whatever because I'm really not, I'm just trying to find something that will actually work the best for my panic attacks the longest and the most effective benzo. I also want to know what I should say to the doctor for his nursing assistant on why I've made so many switches and why I haven't been able to decide or why this is all been happening or what I should do at all. Please responses as many as possible

First of all, YES in the eyes of a medical practitioner you have what are called "red flag" behaviors. This isn't to say that you are selling or abusing but it certainly can look suspicious. Repeated frequent requests for benzos are not going to make your doctor more likely to prescribe them....instead it may give them the impression that you are difficult to work with.

My suggestion is this, if you have a therapist call and request an emergency appointment because you're clearly in rough shape. If not, then it's time to get a therapist because benzos alone are not a long term answer. Especially with something like OCD which tends to be a very chronic condition, it's important to learn coping skills.

Read a post in this forum just after yours, called "making anxiety worse with resistance" I think that poster hit the nail on the head.

Call your doc if you need to, but don't call demanding benzos. Call asking for help. You can get through this. You can do this. Good luck and keep us posted

I'm surprised that they are still handing out benzos like that. Every drug I asked my psychiatrist for, I didn't get. Even seroquel that I was already prescribed.

Klonopin is the best benzo out of the four commonly prescribed. It lasts the longest and it's just as strong as Xanax. Ativan is also the same except you need two pills for every pill of Xanax or Klonopin.

My best advice is to never take another benzo ever again. But since you're like I was and having intense anxiety, stick to what ever benzo you are currently given. No more "switches" (quoted because they are basically the same) because it's just more for your doctor to put on your record so they will treat you even worse when you're on a high dose in the future (When the "anti benzo" Nazi force spreads to your area.

Sorry you're dealing with this but be careful.
Thanks for this!
